Welcome, dear friends!

Lets talk what Hungry Safari is about. An idea that was born over a year ago and which will have finally materialized on March 2nd 2025 with the release of our first episode (update: here it is).

We'll hop on a delicious journey exploring the rich culinary traditions of Eastern Europe and beyond. Our mission is to share authentic recipes, cooking techniques, and the stories behind these cherished dishes!

The beginnings

One evening I was chatting with my boys and they asked if I'd be willing to be filmed while cooking. I must admit, I am not a professional chef; I simply love to cook, explore new recipes, and see how they turn out. I don't exactly remember whose idea it was to present the video in Greek – living in Athens, we initially thought our filming would be just for Greece, never imagining that subtitles would follow.

I really liked their proposal and was eager to get started. During our very first filming session, I experienced a few nerves (even though it was my boys behind the camera) and stumbled over my words a few times before we got it right. My wife was there too, lending a hand with washing utensils, preparing ingredients, and arranging the plates at the end – team effort.

Behind a video of 10 or 20 minutes lies several hours of work. We film on Sundays, our day off, as we spend the weekdays at work. In the evenings, I ponder over which recipe to prepare next and then we all agree on one. Usually, we test the recipe on Saturday to familiarize ourselves with the process – so that on the filming day, we know what to expect and can make small adjustments if needed.

We will be posting the full recipes and instructions for each episode, here on our blog, so we can always take a quick peek and try it at your own pace! :)
